LFW AW11 Piers Atkinson Part 2

Judy sizzles in her navy beret with neon trim, fuelled by 240 volts and an attitude So on Saturday this LFW, Piers hosted a wonderful evening of hat, trannies, music and Anne Pigalle at Franny's Pop Up restaurant, Frith Street, Soho. Franny's has become somewhat of a haven recently, so it only seemed right somehow that it got put firmly on the [Soho] map. Piers' party was in celebration of his new collection, and more of his hats were on display from his 40 odd AW11 collection, including this beast of a balaclava knitted by none other than Sorcha O'Rahallaigh, a knitwear designer who Hannah and I had the pleasure of working with over the summer of last year on a fashion film by Saga Sig and Anna Trevelyan. Lovely! One of Piers' fabulous 'Paris' showpieces: And Anne Pigalle turns in a fine performance mid evening; according to Piers, this collection is best worn listening to her songs!

LFW AW11 Piers Atkinson Part 1

Piers, Piers, Piers! One of my first destinations this fashion week was the Headonism exhibition at Somerset House, curated by the milliner Stephen Jones. Piers Atkinson was once again asked to showcase some of his new AW11 collection. Entlitled 'Paris', this new collection is chic, sharp and stylish in comparison to his more light hearted approach to SS11's 'La Belle Au Bois'. Working from a strictly refined pallete of bruised night sky aubergines, purples and navy, Piers drew inspiration from the French photographer Brassai when designing his new collection. I was lucky enough to work with Piers a couple of times during the making of his SS11 collection and later, on a fashion film for the Soho based boutique Machine-A [RIP].

LFW AW11 Yang Du

Another of Selfridges' Bright Young Things, the lovely Yang Du, was showcasing alongside Craig Lawrence and Shao Yen Chen in the NewGen exhibition. Lovely, lovely, lovely!

LFW AW11 Shao Yen Chen

After working a little bit with Shao Yen Chen's team during the production of his current window installation for the Selfridges' Bright Young Things project, I was very excited to have a gander at his AW11 collection... There is only a week left to visit the Bright Young Thing's window displays at Selfridges, so if you haven't got your ass down to have a look at them yet, go! Now! Shao Yen Chen's is a thing of beauty!

LFW AW11 Dominic Jones

Whilst scouring the NewGen exhibition I came across a familiar sight...Jewellery designer Dominic Jones was once again showcasing his collection in the exhibition space, in a manner that reminded me of his infamously complex window installation for Machine-A (R.I.P)

LFW AW11 Fannie Schiavoni

Schiavoni's minimal NewGen stand [with single chestplate] struck a cord last season. She's showcasing a bit more of her AW11 collection this time round...

LFW AW11 NewGen

NewGen Exhibition Faithful readers! Long time no see? It's that time of year again where I get all wannabe fashionista blogger: London Fashion Week has landed! I'm in the fortunate position this time round to have been granted my own exhibition pass [because of the Very Important Place I work, or something] so took the opportunity over the last couple of days to venture round the fashion laced corridors of Somerset House, taking in the NewGen, Estethica and Headonism exhibitions. On first entering the Exhibition space, the crowds are greeted by a specially commissioned Scarf Installation, in which all of the NewGen designers have designed a print for this atrium based scarf installation. Nice!
